Heather Schmidt is an M&A Advisor at Exit Equity and a seasoned entrepreneur, operator, and consultant. As co-founder of Union Square Companies, a multi-unit bakery business in Boston and the greater Boston area, she built and led a complex organization — gaining firsthand insight into what drives growth, profitability, and transferable value. 

In addition to her work in M&A, Heather is a Growth Management Consultant with Crews & Co. and a Certified Exit Planning Advisor®. She believes exit planning is business strategy — building high-value, resilient companies with strong teams and giving owners the freedom to choose when and how they exit, without leaving value on the table. This value-building lens informs her approach to every engagement at Exit Equity. 

Having navigated the founder journey herself, Heather understands the strategic, financial, and emotional complexity of selling a business. She works alongside owners as a trusted partner throughout the entire sale process — from preparation through closing — combining strategic leadership, disciplined project management, and dedicated guidance, ensuring sellers are prepared, confident, and fully supported throughout the process. 

Based in Portland, Oregon, Heather works with clients throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Outside of her advisory work, she’s often trail running through Forest Park, exploring the Oregon coast, or discovering new coffee spots around town.
